I'm sat alone taking one last look, ready to close the door on what my first year and my first class.
25 children I have taken under my wing.
We've had tears, we've had laughter, we've had banter, we've had raised voices (opps) and we've had lots of singing (mainly from me). However, life is about taking chances, growing and moving forward.
I took a huge chance by moving away from family, friends and starting out in a new place and school. The children that have been apart of my life for nearly a year have grown considerably, not just academically but personally. I've been apart of a fraction of their lives and I'm hoping they'll remember me when they look back and are telling their children about Mr Maull.
There have been many a bump on the road and this journey has taken many twists and turns, although the past is always there and home is always calling.
I've always been honest and this has been difficult, however never regret anything and always think positively about what is about to come. We make our own futures and only we can write our stories.
I have wanted to quit and give everything up on so many occasions, however I'm there and managed to actually become a teacher. Who would have guessed? As a child this was the plan (alongside being an international popstar - a man can dream) and it's official. Mr Maull - teacher. Crazy as it seems. How did I ever pass?
So many people have been with me on this journey and I thank those who have worked closely with me. I have been frustrated, annoyed and pissed off so many times, however with close colleagues to vent to, they have helped me through. Although there have been negatives, the children have worked to the best of their abilities and having set my expectations so high I hope I have not let them down.
I'm now ready to start afresh and prepare my new classroom. I return to a school where people know me and somewhere I already feel comfortable. I know it will be difficult, however I have proven I can overcome any obstacles.
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. I know on many occasions it's been fairly boring, however you've stuck with me and you're still reading now. I'm glad I made the choices I did because so many good things have happened for me and many new people have entered my life.
Until next time...
Steve Maull.
